Maul stood in the middle of central park on a cloudy day when thunder and lightning clashed overhead, the roar of the wind caused the trees to bend and grass to rip from the ground and swirl in the air. The giant stood out in the storm he had been waiting on for over a month to come and finally it was here. Jason "Maul" Alpha a third degree back belt and a Guardian monk of the Golden Temple was going to try and capture thunder for himself, and use it against the wicked of the world. Today was the day he would master his first ability with his strength, and open the doors to the greater power he had in his body. Ever since he received this power he been afraid to fully utilize it to it's max in the fear of harming innocents. But lately he knew that he couldn't worry about that if he was going to fight the evil of the world and that meant that each must look to themselves when the war was on. Jason stepped into the center of the circle he drew and looked at the base of a giant oak. Jason stood face to trunk with the King of the woods and ran his hand along the strong durable bark that sustained life even under these conditions. It was truly something of wonder and power in that tree.
Maul turned away and dropped to his knees which didn't do much to diminish his height. His fist in palm he recited a long ancient poem of a warrior who was cursed to never hold a sword but found a new path in the form of the martial arts. Jason too followed the path of the warrior and respected the man who threw away his ambition of the blade to walk the difficult path of the body. Jason also was making a decison with his life to become a hero of the world but he had to have the power to do so. His enemies used bullets, weapons, and power. He had his strength but it wasn't enough. Now he had to become a weapon in close and far range. Standing up he looked to the heavens above and stared at the black clouds that covered a entire city, he imagined his strength doing that. Covering the entire city of New York in a protective blanket and becoming the fear of the villains that nestled deep in the underbelly of the city. He would root them out and if necessary destroy them.
Thunder boomed overhead as if responding to his promise, lightning jagged the sky like a whip used by some God in a terrible rage. Jason did not pretend to understand the ways of the storm but he needed a aspect of the storm, he needed thunder in his hands. Finally standing up the giant pressed his hands together feeling the strength in his muscles from years of training and from what Project Perfection had done to him. Raising his hands he released his prayers to the heavens and placing his hands apart as if he was being set on a cross he drove them together with a resounding boom. The air shuddered but nothing more. Jason breathed in deep letting the storm fill his lungs and the roar of thunder beat with his heart. His hands came together once more and once again only the air shivered. Jason knew that what he wanted was possible for he had the strength to implement it but now he needed more than that. He needed the will to do it and the personal convition that he could do it. His heart delved into his soul looking for the reason and there he found the doubt that was gnawing at him. What if strength alone wasn't enough to do what was necessary, What if he was meant to be on the other side? No, Jason was a Monk of the Golden Temple, A first class guardian and elite. He was good not evil and he always would be. The doubt vanished like dew in the sun and his hands came together once more and a massive thunder shockwave rolled off his hands and tore open the soft wet soil while sending water spraying forward like a deep grey veil. The water lifted high in the air and when it landed the rain poured down overhead. The splat, splat, splat, of the rain made the world seem more in tune and once again Jason slammed his hands together releasing thunder into a shockwave that ripped twenty feet forward cutting a huge wall out of the rain before vanishing. Once again the rain fell once more. Jason smiled at his work but knew it was nothing more than a stepping stone for what he would one day do.
