Senator Hines has revealed how mutants will be handled: Sentinels.

A rumor traveled the circles of the supernatural. Mutants heard a safe, underground railroad was being started, inquire at the Summit. The beyond sought the strange power said to rest at the Summit of New York City. The gossip flitted amongst the rest: valuable information was to come to light when dawn broke over the Summit.

Testing grounds. [Training] Empty
PostSubject: Testing grounds. [Training]   Testing grounds. [Training] EmptyFri Jan 11, 2013 6:33 pm

Having electrical powers was one of Vaas’ greatest allies. They hadn’t come to him easy, and had caused him quite a bit of trouble as a child, but those days were long gone. Vaas had gained control of his abilities, bending them to his control and using them however he saw fit. He had plenty of ideas for how to use the electricity, but every powers development had to start somewhere, right? One of the most basic abilities granted through electro-magnetic manipulation is the ability to infuse objects with the electricity, severely increasing their killing potential. But not every item can be infused in such a way, as not all materials are capable of holding such a charge. Vaas had always suspected such a fact, as even though he’d been granted superhuman powers, he couldn’t really change the laws of matter. Such objects simply wouldn’t hold his electrical charge, and would repel all the energy as soon as they left his hands. On the bright side, he could still hold the object and channel his electricity that way, but that wasn’t quite the way he wanted to do things.

Metallic objects, on the other hand, were practically made to hold his electro-magnetism. He could pass a current through them and they’d hold onto it like it had been there from the beginning. This was exactly what he thought would happen, but it’s always pleasant to prove a theory correct. What Vaas had to do is find out exactly to what extent he could electro-magnetically imbue an object, and that required actual physical testing. Because of that, we now find Vaas in a large spacious area with a variety of objects in front of him. The objects ranged vastly in types and sizes, as he wanted to find the exact scope that he could push his abilities to, without leaving any middle ground undiscovered. Information is power, and being clueless about the extent of his abilities would do Vaas no favors. So, he stood before his assortment of random objects, deciding which one he should try out first. He figured he’d start small and work his way up, seeing how the powers would respond to a smaller object before he tried anything bigger.

He picked up a metal dagger, a little longer than a foot. He tried charging it up with electricity, slowly. The dagger’s temperature increased, but it did hold the charge. Vaas’ signature green lightning coated the weapon, sparking off of it wildly as he charged it with increasing amounts of energy. He then threw the dagger with expert precision, hitting the target dummy Vaas had set up directly in the center of the bulls-eye painted on its chest. The dagger held the electricity the entire time it flew, and discharged it completely as soon as it touched the dummy. It left the dummy with a large black burn mark where the dagger was. Vaas smirked, satisfied with the results. Looks like he’d been right about metallic objects being the best conductors of his powers. Not that he really had a doubt, it was metal after all. He’d have been more surprised if the dagger test hadn’t worked.

Taking a few steps to the side, Vass then picks up a katana. He surges it with electricity, lighting the blade up with his electricity. The blade surged, green lightning lining its edge and sparking off as it did. Vaas swings the blade, the electricity trailing behind giving it a lightsaber-like appearance. He then makes another swing, a faster one this time. As he does this, he repulses the electricity forming a green crescent blade of energy that travels a few feet before dissipating. Vaas’ smile grew wider. I can work with that, he mused. Satisfied once more, Vaas decided to take things to a new level. He skipped a few more of the objects he’d brought, making his way to a large garbage tank, the kind garbage trucks use their metal arms to pick up and dump out their contents.

Using his magnetism, Vaas easily picks up the metallic garbage tank. He then sends a prolonged bolt of electro-magnetic energy, charging the object. Similar to the dagger and sword, the garbage tank lit up green, electricity flowing though it wildly. A simple touch of the object would do a good amount of damage, but Vaas wasn’t satisfied with just that. He focused his magnetism once more, flinging the electrified garbage tank towards the dummy at an incredible velocity. The garbage tank hit the dummy, destroying it completely. Not only did the garbage tank hit the dummy, it let out its electricity all at once in a large surge. The energy engulfed the garbage tank, it had the same effect as an electrical explosion. That’s what I wanted to see, he says with a large grin. By now, Vaas was practically completely aware of how his powers would react when infused with various objects, and had a small idea of the effects he could produce. But he wanted to know more. He also wanted to play around with the powers some more. Vaas had just discovered a new trick, and he meant to explore it completely.

Testing grounds. [Training] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Testing grounds. [Training]   Testing grounds. [Training] EmptyFri Jan 11, 2013 7:57 pm

Standing at the very center of his private training grounds, Vaas looked around, making sure he had enough space to train the ability he was about to practice. It was a relatively simple idea, one that he’d come up with only last night. He kicked himself for taking so long to think up a skill with so many uses, he thought he was smarter than that. The idea was to channel his electro-magnetic energies to create constructs of various shapes and sizes. It was a simple idea, but Vaas had a feeling it wouldn’t be so easy to put into practice. After all, channeling energy in such a way as to make it not only damaging but also tangible, wasn’t such an easy feat. But he had to start somewhere right? He raised his hands in front of him, opening his palms and aiming a few feet ahead of him.

He’d start small, with an object that would be easy to make. He pulsed energy through his hands, sending a bolt of energy to the floor ahead of him. The energy stayed still for a moment, before slowly forming a small green cube. The cube was made of pure energy, with flecks of lightning sparking off of it. Not bad, but we couldn’t quite use a tiny cube to fight, could he? He shot another continuous bolt of energy at it, charging it up some more. The cube grew, gaining size until it was roughly chest high. The object was certainly there, but was it sturdy? Vaas picked up a rock from the floor, right next to his shoe. He tossed the rock at the cube, smirking as the rock hit it and bounced right off with a small flash of lightning. He’d done better than he thought we would.

But a rock was one thing, a bullet was another. He brought his hands back up, charging up before pulsing more energy into the cube, attempting to strengthen it. The cube grew a little more, and its green color became more opaque as he charged it with energy. By the time he finished, it visibly looked stronger than it was before. Now he had to put it to the test. Leaving the cube in its place, Vaas walked to a nearby table and picked up a .45 caliber pistol. He aimed the pistol at the center of the cube and fired it. Just as he expected, the bullet reacted exactly the same as the rock he’d thrown at it earlier. Vaas was proud of this. Now not only could he magnetically stop a bullet, he could form a wall that not only stopped bullets, but attacked anyone who touched it.

But walls weren’t all the man had in mind. Strong, sturdy constructs were good and all, but Vaas had more offensive ideas in mind for his constructs. Now he’d practice making a moving object. He thought for a moment, thinking of the best way to start. He decided to try and form a dog, as it would be simple enough to make and control. He took up his previous stance used to make the cube, and shot energy at the floor. Slowly, he formed the shape of a green retriever. The dog looked sturdy enough, as he’d made it identical to the wall. But would it move the way Vaas wanted it to? Time to test that out. He tried willing the dog to move with mental commands, and was surprised to see it responding accurately. The dog darted wildly, running around as Vaas’ mental commands instructed it to do.

By now Vaas was thoroughly impressed with himself and his abilities. The construct idea had worked out much better than he’d originally thought, and this was only the beginning. He could do plenty of things with these constructs with enough imagination. But right now he wanted to test one last thing. He picked up the gun one more time, mentally commanding the dog to sit before him. He pointed the gun at it and shot, curious to see how it reacted. To his delight, it was a complete repeat performance of what happened to the cube. The bullet bounced right off with a flash of lightning, indicating its deadliness. Vaas was excited, he had an ability that could be used for practically any situation. He’d make sure to put it to good use. As a last show of the power, he surged energy around himself, creating a large three headed snake that coiled around his body. The snake coiled up to his shoulders, each head a foot in diameter. At his mental command the snake lashed out, each head separating into its own snake. The three of them attacked a target dummy with their intense electricity, leaving it a blackened husk. Vaas tipped his hat before turning away to leave, ”now that’s how it’s done.”
