The Biography
|
Birth Name: FE 07 Aliases: Nyx, Aryonna Iulian Gender: Female Age: 22 in Appearance, Real age Unknown Birth Date: Somewhere Between May-August Class: Experiment
Appearance:
- Spoiler:
Nyx (as known by her night persona) is a tall, petite young woman, reaching five feet, ten inches in height and weighing 130 pounds on average. She is of mixed descent, being half-Italian, half-Romanian, and as such possesses a lightly tanned skin tone, resembling the color of honey. Her long, black hair trails down her back, stopping just above her butt. Neat bangs frame the front of her face, parted slightly to the left. She has a tragus piercing in her left ear, along with a cuff in the cartilage and three piercings in the soft skin at the bottom of each ear. During her day job as a teachers-assistant, she removes all but the very bottom most of her piercings and the tragus, which is easily covered up by her bangs. She also has three tattoos: one on her ankle of a dragon, one in the center of her back of a compass rose, and one on her neck of a balance of justice. For her day job, Nyx, (also known as Aryonna for daytime purposes) typically wears a collared shirt or turtleneck, to hide the presence of her tattoos, along with slacks and heels shoes of any sort (boots, normal heels, etc). Because her tattoo is placed at ankle length, it is easily coverable by the hem of her pants leg. She wears simple, rectangular black glasses over her emerald green eyes, a slightly bizarre color created as a result of her experimentation. When her power is activated, the emerald turns into a vibrant pale green. She wears the glasses as a vision corrector, as her eyesight became slightly too strong in the wake of her experimentation, making reading difficult at close distances. During the night (or rather, after school hours), she generally will remove them, preferring instead to see the world in front of the lens. Her daily attire outside of work usually consists of jeans and black, heeled boots that reach mid calf. Depending on the weather, she will either wear a navy coat, or a red leather jacket, with a long sleeved, black v-neck tee. Her hair remains in a ponytail outside of school, excluding special occasions. To others, she is viewed as an attractive young woman, with delicate model-like features on a lithe frame. She wears little make-up other than simple eye-shadow and a rosy lipstick to match the color of her pale pink lips.
Personality:
Nyx has a very brazen personality, adopting an "only speak with necessary" philosophy outside of work. If she deems something important enough to be said or acknowledge, she will do so. If not, she will choose to ignore it instead. Still unaccustomed to the use of emotions on her face, she often wears little expression outside of a disinterested stare, even if she feels otherwise. She has been able to adapt slightly for her job, showing the occasional smile or regard, depending on the situation. However, because of her expressionless face, she comes off rather cold to others, as if she is someone unapproachable. This, for the most part, keeps her isolated from many people, coupled by her awkward, sometimes rather straight forward demeanor when talking with people. Her origins hold little importance to her, as she never knew her parents, or if she did, she no longer has any recollection of them. She is ambivalent about the concept of good and evil, unwilling to believe that people are capable of being entirely good nor entirely evil, and therefore find the principle silly. She instead believes that people are simply people, acting upon their desires, wants, hopes and nightmares to be who they are. This gives her a rather cynical view of the world at times, as she wonders if there is any hope for this world that has slowly become tainted with more and more blood shed. In her mind, each action holds a purpose, and signifies a characteristic of the person. People rarely do things without reason or purpose, without something to gain or some benefit for themselves. It is that benefit, that gain, that she believes drives people to do what they do. She reasons that the scientists who created her imagined a greater species that could survive (and thrive) on its own in this dangerous world, and as a result, she was fabricated.

The Background
|
History: Nyx had been manufactured in the an old Soviet factory, somewhere on the outskirts of Moscow, by former Soviet scientists looking to bring the Union back to it's former glory. She was designed to be the perfect weapon, with a human appearance, easily controlled. She wasn't sure where they had found her parents, nor if they even existed at all. She had been told nothing about them, leading her to believe she had come to fruition in a test tube, not in the womb of a woman. Careful gene splicing lead to her creation by the hands of the scientists. She was designed to be fast, strong, and beautiful, but also unfeeling. Sometime, during this period, one of the lab assistants made a grave error, tipping an unknown solution into her body, then a simple compilation of cells, not yet taken form. This accident was quickly covered up, and the scientists continued with their work, unaware of what had taken place. From then on, she was pumped full of different drugs, each designed to modify or control her growth (and another reason for her to believe she had grown in a test tube. No woman could've endured such a regime). By the time of her "birth" she was released from the tube that had become her prison, and took what she could only assume to be her first breathe of air outside of a breathing mask. She had the appearance of a five year old at the time, though she was unsure if she had actually been alive in those five years, or if it had been a product of her experimentation. She liked to think she had been alive, considering she aged rather naturally afterwards, just as the scientists in the lab did.
In those first few years, she showed little change. She was a cute child, with sharper eyes than most children her age, and a clear intelligence, but other than that, she possessed nothing special. The scientists began to think that all their efforts were in vain, and considered scrapping her project and moving on, destroying her body to remove all evidence of her existence, and their mistake. Until one day, as they went to retrieve her from her make shift library, only to find themselves unable to do so. She had constructed a visible, light blue force field around herself, blocking the scientists from touching her, explaining to them that she wasn't yet ready to go back (in fact, she had found a book on Greek mythology, which greatly interested her. It was from this book that she adopted her name "Nyx," the greek goddess of the night). This discovery lead to a new onslaught of testing, as it was far above what they expected. They re-examined their procedures, looking for anything that could've caused this unique ability of hers. The barrier had appeared to be fabricated from her imagination, and brought to reality by the projection of said thought. From this, they taught her various combat skills, ranging from marital arts to acrobatics, showing various images of different weapons. It was from this, that they learned the true depth of her powers, and what potential she held.
However, she would only endure their games for so long. The scientists had made another mistake in their research. They had failed to remove her emotions. But, they themselves had no knowledge of this, as she rarely expressed in any manner what she was thinking or feeling. Even when their experimentation caused her great pain, her face remained an otherwise blank canvas while her body and mind screamed in anguish. Prolonged periods of using her abilities left her fatigued often, with long bouts of migraines afterward. It was periods like this that she would recluse herself in her room, forming a barrier to keep them out. The scientists merely attributed this to her willfulness, brought on by her teenage years, and reasoned that it would lessen with age. On the contrary, it only continued to increase as her impatience grew. By the time she turned 18, she believed herself ready to leave them, not longer able to withstand their treatment of her. She was proficient in marital arts and acrobatics, fluent in Russian, Italian, Romanian and English (she had been taught Romanian and Italian by the scientists, in an attempt to get in touch with her origins. She never sought to learn anything else, as it didn't particularly interest her), and they couldn't touch her, literally. One day, she simply walked out the front door, using her shield to push in the doors, collapsing their structural foundations. Half of the building fell in her wake (not that it was heavily enforced to begin with. The scientists had done their work outside of government eyes, as human experimentation was frowned upon even by the Soviets at the time.
From there, she was able to scrap a little money together, her education teaching her a little about life outside of the lab. She moved to the United States, New York specifically, enrolling in college on a teaching course, as knowledge was the only practical thing she possessed. Her strange origins were never questioned, as she simply enrolled as an orphan under the name "IULIAN Aryonna" as written on a mysterious set of papers found in her bag, and therefore received a waiver on her fees. She wasn't sure where the paperwork she had found in her bag came from, nor did she particularly care as long as it was able to help her. She would thank the scientist who gave them to her though, if she ever discovered his/her identity (it was in fact the assistant who had spilled the solution at her fabrication). From there, she was able to attend classes, fairing well among the other students, not quite the best, but among those who were. She landed her teaching assistant job after a successful internship during her time at the University. She know works as a high school teacher's assistant, teaching classes from time to time, while still pursuing a Master's degree, more for the sport of it anyway. She had yet to come across any trouble from her former keepers, although she still had her doubts, knowing very well that they were most likely searching for her, and given the chance, they would take her back.
