The Daily Bugle

Senator Hines has revealed how mutants will be handled: Sentinels.

A rumor traveled the circles of the supernatural. Mutants heard a safe, underground railroad was being started, inquire at the Summit. The beyond sought the strange power said to rest at the Summit of New York City. The gossip flitted amongst the rest: valuable information was to come to light when dawn broke over the Summit.

High above the city streets in NYC, the air was moderately cooler than down at ground level. The constant muted throb that was the heavy traffic gifted the city with a montonous heartbeat which made the urban jungle seem as alive as it always did. The bluster of the wind which soared against the concrete and glass skin of the skyscrapers added a biting nip to the atmosphere, combined with ever constant smog quite a lot was happening above ground level in the city that never sleeps. It was no different to any large city with skyscrapers towering over everything, or so Arihyoshi Yuuka was aware.

Actually calling her 'Yuuka' was bit of a misnomer in this instance because an 18 year old student had no business sitting on the ledge of a 20 story office building. No this person was Tanuki, a fledgling renegade by anyone's standards, but regardless she was out doing her renegade business. At the moment, she was being bored looking ,actually listening to be more precise, for anything worth his time to investigate and look further into. Sitting on the ledge the was cycling through radio signals being broadcast by the police band and emergency cell phone calls. Any heroic person would have purchased said item through more honorable means, the sassy teenager however simply tore it out of an unattended police car. What she was doing was probably illegal in itself but who would care when lives and property damage and insurance claims were at stake? It was the beginning of a slow night in her opinion and she had grown bored of leaping from rooftop to rooftop looking down alleyways and out across large expanses of city looking for trouble. She honestly found that to be an exercise in futility and unnecessary leg work.

Her feet dangled off the lip of the roof, swaying to and fro as she brushed loose strands of her midnight green hair out of her porcelain face. She was wearing her waxy black leather catsuit, which not only helped her aerodynamic movements but also provided her with stylish and discreet fashionable option for 'hero work'. Her bare middrift shivered against the cool breeze, speckled with goosebumps as she shuffled uncomfortably against mother natures unwelcome caress. The slender titanium laced gauntlets shimmered in the pale silver moonlight was another great addition to her leotard.

So there she sat listening for something to peak the interest of someone with a knack for punching above her weight and a penchant for crime fighting. While her ears worked cycling between calls of varying degrees of importance, her eyes were working overtime constantly peering through 'borrowed' binoculars, scanning the shadowy streets below her, while occassionally zeroing and zooming in on pedestrians and normal traffic, looking for car jackers or otherwise shifty looking individuals.

"Parking tickets, 8 year old aggravated assault charges that have been dropped, shoplifting, more parking tickets. C'mon America you can do better than this.." she huffed, raising her naturally defined eyebrows as she listened to the constant drone of the police band..nothing had spiked her interest at all. By the rate things were going she would have to create trouble of her own to have some fun that night. And that's when she heard it..some rambling down by the decrepit alleyway next to where she was located, a scream? Yes a woman's scream pierced the thin veil of the night...shattering all previous belief that she wouldn't find anything fun to do that night.

She sprung off her perch, leaping onto a nearby stairwell as she sunk into the dusty alleyway hidden in the murky blackness of the night..hopefully she wasnt going to be too late..

Sean’s eyes darted around curiously with sketch pad held in his grip. It was one of those nights, one where he would just wander making a mental note of anything he found worth sketching out. The city was always full of interesting things if you looked out for them, though tonight he was really just finding an excuse to get out of his house. Cars drove through the streets at their steady pace, as neon lights lit up the city that never slept. That name was a justly given one, seeing as the city truly never did sleep it seemed. There was always something going on, even into the dead of night. He could feel the restlessness within his blood stirring, the need to do something. He was never really keen on staying inside but there was only so much you could do even in New York.

The young mutant paused for a second, looking up to the starless expanse of the sky that blanketed the city. He wondered what the stars looked like, if they really were numerous shining points against that dark blanket, something that made the night even more majestic than it already was. Sean’s imagination took off from that point and began to fill his head with fantastic images of what it could really be like. People walked around him, not even noticing the young man looking at the sky with a fascination that had sprung within in a matter of seconds as the thoughts zoomed around his head.

After a moment he let his mind snap back into reality and his legs moved onward. The sound of the hustle and bustle of the city barely even reaching his ears, eyes narrowing into slits as he let a breath his through his lips. Honestly Sean was considering what to do with the extra spending money he had come upon thanks to a minor science experiment he had taken part of, which he didn’t even bother remember the reason for. Something to do with his genetics and that was all really. Sean reached into his pocket feeling a sudden vibration against his thigh, which was likely to be the phone nestled tightly. It was a text from Aaron, likely just as bored as he was. His fingers tapped rapidly across the keys before the phone was shut but still held tightly between his pale fingers.

Turning blue eyes heavenward again, Sean considered something. It was a good night to test out his powers, to test out the training his mother had given him. As to how he would do so was a different story altogether, seeing as it wasn’t sane to simply go looking for trouble even with his capabilities. Another vibration came from the phone, Sean typing in another message before pocketing it. He would have walked further but his ears caught s singular sound that seemed to pierce through the rest. His skin prickled at the very sound and his heartrate increased.

It was the sound of someone screaming and that usually meant there was something happening, Sean’s eyes darted around to see if anyone else had noticed it. He quickly ducked into the nearest alleyway and ran as fast as his legs could carry him to where he had heard the sound.

True he didn’t look like a real threat, wearing a simple black graphic tee, faded blue jeans and converse; looks could be deceiving. His foot falls seemed to echo within his eardrums as he ran, unsure what he really was doing now, tongue playing over his lips as he continued to run without thinking of anything else. With one hand he managed to put the sketchpad into his small black backpack, pulling out a small water bottle.

He could hear another scream that sounded like the one who did so in the first place. He was getting closer, he could tell that much. "Just you wait.” Sean muttered under his breath. He was only a few minutes away.

Nothing made sense anymore. Sonny had all of a sudden been thrust into this world on his own. He sat on the floor, staring at all the valuables he had left. This small list included the clothes on his back, a picture of him and his now deceased family, that damn sword, and the money he had left from selling all the other things he owned. It would let him live in this rotten apartment for a short time, but wouldn't provide much else. Saving people from petty crimes didn't really make him rich. As he lay on his 'bed', which was just the floor and his hoody folded up as a pillow, he put some serious thought into his options. The first thought that came to his mind was pretty simple. Get a job. Sonny laughed at the thought. He wasn't going to be one to actually go out and get a job. That would be a waste of his abilities. The military better take him if he had no other options. Maybe he could land a job with the government. Wonder what kind of pay I could get with them. It'd be better than living in this dump.

That night would be a restless night. The floor was significantly more uncomfortable than it recently was. Aside from the nights where he had the same nightmares involving that night, Sonny was usually able to sleep like a baby. This night, he had a weird ominous feeling looming over him. He stared at the sword that was propped up against his wall. That damn sword seemed to stare back at him. It was too creepy for Sonny. He felt that something was hidden within that sword, but he couldn't figure it out. Aside from his newfound powers he received when he picked the sword up for the first time, he knew that there was something weird about it. Sonny wouldn't rest until he figured out what was up with it. Finally giving up on sleep, he got up and walked over to the sword that rested in the sheath. Grabbing the sheath and pushing down with his left hand and grabbing the sword and pulling up with his right hand, he withdrew the sword from its resting place to stare at it. "What other secrets do you hold, you bastard?" There was a weird energy coming from the sword, which gave chills form on Sonny's back. Ok, too much weird shit. Back in your hole you go. With that, Sonny put the sword back in its sheath.

Abandoning his small idea of finding out what was hidden with the sword, he went to his sink. While turning the cold water on, he looked into the mirror to stare at himself. Somehow, he still didn't look like his life was falling apart around him. Sure, he wasn't at his best, but he could still make the ladies squeal if he wanted to. Trying to avoid making it one of those remorseful situations where one would stare at themselves, he gave a flirtatious wink to himself and got a handful of water and splashed it in his face.

Grrrrr. Sonny looked around, half expecting to see a dog standing there waiting for him. He put his hand back without looking and felt around for the knob to turn the water off, and twisted it. The flow of the water came to a halt, and Sonny listened intently for the sound again. Grrrr. He nearly fell over from relief as he heard it was just his stomach growling. "Bad boy! I told you to ask nicely whenever you were hungry!" Sonny chuckled to himself as he reached into his cabinet, pulling out a can of ravioli and a fork from his cup of silverware. He set down the can and waved his hand over the fork, imbuing it with his mystical sharpness. The fork cut through the can like butter, successfully making can openers useless in his mind. After removing the lid, Sonny began to feast on his prey. The ravioli didn't have a chance.

His meal was interrupted by a noise. Not just any noise. It was a noise that he had become familiar with in the last few weeks. This was a scream. Sonny slammed his unfinished can of ravioli down on the counter and rushed back into the room to place the sword securely strapped on his back. His hoodie that was used as a pillow went over his sword and shirt, showing a little bit of bulk on his back and hardly any sword showed up top behind his head. Sonny went to his window and opened it before jumping out and taking to the skies with his newfound power of flight. The sound was still ringing in his ears, and he made his way toward the direction of the scream, hoping to get another sound to pinpoint the location. From up high he was able to get a bird's eye view, and soon found the area he was looking for. He started to descend gradually, but didn't want to make himself known yet. He still had to identify each person that was already there.

The cold evening breeze brushed against Tanuki's porcelain skin as she scaled down the red brick exterior of the apartment complex, making sure to be as silent as possible. Her limbs worked in perfect cohesion, fluidly traversing down the rusted water pipes, barely visible window sills and the occasional fire escape all in the hopes that she would swiftly reach whatever trouble was happening down there before anything remotely 'horrific' would happen. Her thoughts were moving just as fast as her body, images flashed before her impressionable mind as she imagined what decrepit act had occurred down in the murky alleyway to release such a piercing scream. Rape? Murder? theft? she thought to herself, scrunching her brow as she flipped over a pot plant that precariously balanced itself on a windowsill, she tried her best to get such images away from her consciousness...she needed a clear head to properly figure out a plan of action.

The silvery tendrils of the moon could not spread it's ethereal glow into the shadowy enfolds of the decrepit alleyway, the only light capable of shedding some semblance of form in the narrow space was the dull yellow haze of a streetlight on the opposite side of the road. All was silent, as if the scream had come out of nowhere...like a demon from hell had a chance to release all of its rage and slink back into its fiery abyss. But no, Tanuki knew something was down there..a victim, a woman by the sound of the scream and whatever it was that caused her to let out such a startling noise. The teenage acrobat was pressed against a brick pillar two stories above ground level, she was completely masked by the dusty shadows and her lithe form did well in acting discreet. She waited, a few seconds of dead silence..nothing but the eerie moans of the wind and the distant sound of traffic...but all was soon shattered when a distinct shuffling noise broke the tense wait, confirming her belief that whoever was down there was still very much alive..

Rodents and cockraoches scuttled out of their private kingdoms as peculiar sounds began to pierce the thin veil of the night. A woman's whimpering was hung in the air as a unrecognisable gurgling noise sent unnatural waves of the supernatural through her bones. Goosebumps crawled along her supple skin as she peered into the darkness, leaning forward as she tried her best to discern what foul creature lay in the shadows. A brief flash of red caught her eye, immediately signalling her body to procure the titanium fans from the enfolds of her slender gauntlets. Silently clasping onto her weapons, the girl clenched her jaw..swallowing as she let the adrenalin within her body kic in,"Ohwells...time to have some fun I guess" she muttered to herself, brushing the cowl that clung to her lower face as she let go of the masonry.

Arcing her body in the air in one fluid motion she let the natural grace of her acrobatic skill take hold, flipping open her fans just before her feet landed on the stained concrete with a soft thud. A startled gasp emanated out of the murky alleyway, the stench of mould and garbage clung to the air as Tanuki stared with intense focus into the darkness...preparing her body for whatever may come charging at her. It was only after the passing of a few seconds did a macabre, guttural voice emanate from behind a barely visible garbage bin alongside the west wall of the alleyway.

"Another human has come for our tastebuds..Oh yes..and look at her. So pretty and succulent...this planet surely is covered in charming little delicacies...", uttered the horrid voice of whatever creature lay hidden in the shadows. It spoke in an accent that she had never heard before and it sounded like there was more than one talking..as if 10 voices were speaking in unison. The girl let out a sharp breath of air, preparing her body for whatever hellish creature lurked hidden behind the garbage. She knew she could not escape, there was a large chance an innocent woman was the victim of whatever it was that lay in the mouldy air in the outskirts of New York, she needed to stay strong even if she had no idea what it was she was dealing with.

"Call me succulent one more time and you won't have the pleasure of tasting this delicacy", she spoke in a shaky voice, cracking a hidden smile as she waited for response...or an attack...or whatever ungodly arsenal the hidden creature possessed.

Sean had no idea what he was running into but he knew that it was going to be something dangerous, something that he was likely to get himself hurt doing. His legs kept him moving, heartbeat hammering within his ears as he ran onward with no intention of turning back now. His way ahead grew eerily dark, the lack of the reliable streetlamps leaving him in a crushing dark that was only barely punctuated by the distant lights that gave a small amount of visibility. His mind was buzzing with thoughts, questioning if what he was doing were brave or just really stupid.

A single strand of blonde hair found its way close to his eyes, quickly blown out of the way by a puff of air, Sean not allowing himself to slow down. Maybe you could call it heroic stupidity or something along those lines? His legs screamed in protest as sweat slowly began to form along his forehead among other places. His teeth clenched together as he urged himself onward without stopping, knowing that he was so close to his destination that he could practically taste it. That was of course when he felt an odd sensation, a feeling that permeated down to his very core. It was as if his body recognized this feeling and wanted him to run in the opposite direction.

That of course did not stop his heroic act of stupidity, no; he kept running as if it were nothing. ”What the hell am I doing?” Sean wondered to himself as he felt the feeling increase the further he ran until he could hear something. It was the sound of something scraping against concrete, a sound that was not something that you heard your average rapist making. Unless they were mutated in some sort of way but that was not the point of his venture.

Sean pressed his back against a wall, the rough brick felt through the fabric of his shirt. His soft palms ran over the brick, lower lips being chewed gingerly by his teeth. Now he would have to approach this with greater caution than he was before, make sure that he wasn’t walking into something that he would regret walking into later. The sound of his heartbeat grew even louder as it spread out through his body in a rhythmic pounding that brought heat to his face. There was no time to waste, he would go forward.

Running around a corner he came upon the scene. His eyes first came upon a monstrosity that could not be mistaken for a human being but something otherworldly. Sean was left utterly speechless, his eyes glued upon the demonic creature with confusion as his fingers tightened around the water bottle still clutched within one of his hands, trying to register what was happening. Had he walked upon something more than a simple robbery?

Next he noticed a strange woman in what looked like a costume. Was she one of those vigilantes that tended to prowl the streets of New York at night? He had heard of them but never really seen one of them up close. His voice seemed to have forsaken him, leaving him mutely staring at the monster that seemed poised to attack the girl. Now was the time to act against it, not when she was already being attacked by it. Slowly his hand undid the cap at the top of the bottle as he held it within his free hand and considered how to go about dealing with this monster. Stepping forward Sean put himself into a point where he would be more visible to the girl as the water moved from its position within the bottle.

He prepared an attack, all he needed was the opportunity.

Sonny suspended himself in the air, studying the developing situtation below. He could hear the voices of those from the alley, but couldn't see them. It was much too dark at this time of night. Damnit, why is that girl being so reckless? Even Sonny wouldn't stand out in the light when his enemies were hidden within the darkness. Thoughts ran through his head. He could dive in headfirst and- Nope. His second option was to fly down and get that girl out of the way. Finally, he decided to just stay out of the way of what was going on. This girl might not be so smart, but she had a suit on. That meant she had to either be another person who was a vigilante, or she was a masked criminal. Either way he couldn't be sure until he knew what was going on, although it sounded like the things in the dark wanted to eat her. Yeah, my bet is that those things in the dark are the bad guys...

Sonny's thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of another boy. He couldn't have been more than sixteen or seventeen years old. Although that was around Sonny's age, Sonny also was flying in the air. As much as he wanted to yell at the boy to run, he also didn't want to give away his position. Then finally, something caught his eye from the position of the creatures in the shadow. One had started to inch its way towards the girl. Sonny could already tell that it wasn't friendly. He didn't know the exact number of them, but he knew that there were many. Sonny decided to make his presence known. These monsters would be in for the night of their life.

His right hand went to the hilt of his sword, feeling the strange energy again as he touched it. Ignoring it, he brought the sword out in front and waved his left hand over the blade, imbuing it with the sharpness aura. Flipping backwards, he got a little half second head start on building up his speed. He went in at an angle, and straighted out to go parallel as he brushed by the girl about a foot and a half from her left shoulder. As soon as he passed her, he brought out his sword as slashed at the demon's head, decapitating it before it could realize what had just happened. Sonny slowed down and made himself vertical as he stopped about a foot behind the demon whose head he just took off. "This is your day of reckoning, evil spirits. Judgment is at hand." He was trying to act like some knight from a fairy tale. Sonny could hardly control himself as he said those words. If he wasn't only obligated to taking a breath every two hours, he would have been gasping for air. He felt so nervous facing real demons. Killing a demon was just like killing a human, though, and he was no beginner on the art of taking life. My life just keeps getting weirder and weirder...

The stale air brushed against her shivering skin, like an invisible serpent hidden amongst the eerie shadows and stench of trash it caused the teenager to involuntarily let out a shudder. She was unsure of how to approach the situation, not only was she unsure about the fate of the woman who screamed but exceedingly wary of the demonic creature that slowly slinked its way out of its dark corner. Like a hellish combination spawned from the collective nightmares of children across the ages the sickening horde of shadowy corpses slowly heaved out of the murky embrace from behind the rotting garbage. Black, withering corpses with piercing red eyes toppled over each other in a macabre display of otherworldly ballet..strange gurgles erupted from their rotting skeletal necks as they clawed in her direction.

Her attention was briefly remmed when she heard footsteps behind her and by instinct she swivelled in her heels, fans raised as she prepared to attack whoever was sneaking behind her. Innocent blue eyes peered at her as her body relaxed..it was merely a boy. By her standards he was quite adorable..although such thoughts were immediately nullified with the slow advance of the vastly monstrosities. "What are you doing?! get out of here", she hissed with increased urgency, waving her fan in the air to shoo the boy away from the alley. Not only was she hopelessly unaware of what abilities these creatures possessed but now she was responsible in babysitting this kid. Things could not get worse.

But they did.

Out of nowhere another figure pounced from above her, screaming from the top of his lungs as he slashed at the foul beasts with his glistening sword. Tanuki did not know what to make of the situation..was she impressed? not really. Was she startled? Definitely. The hollering hero rushed in like a madman, hacking his way through the the head of one of the creatures. His brief moment of heroics only ended a few second later when a stray demon pounced from behind a trash bin, readying its claws to slash at the sword wielding hero. A well thrown fan instantly incapacited the creatures, slicing against its throat causing its body to topple over the putrid mess of rubbish and filth. Its bethren instantly recoiled simultaneously, hissing and screeching like they too felt the pain of the lightweight metal slicing their throats.

"Watch your back Lancelot, before you get your face ripped off!"

The girl didn’t seem to take his attempt to help her in her time of need with any sort of gratitude but actually tried to shoo him away. Sean raised an eyebrow at the attempt, mostly annoyed that he was thought of as nothing but a helpless kid. He would have to show this girl that he was just as capable as she seemed to be with that fan that she so freely motioned for him to run with. There was not enough water around but he could change that if he needed to but right now things were fine. Sean prepared to launch a small attack upon the demons, which he didn’t feel the same compunctions against killing that he felt against killing people.

The water writhed in mid air and prepared itself to launch an attack upon the monstrosities that was sure to decimate them. All he needed was a thought to finish them off but that was when another appeared into the fray. He cut through the things as if they were butter and his blade a hot knife. He stared dumb struck at the display of raw force that was displayed in front of them, reducing the number of the things by a considerable amount. They were far more powerful than he could hope to show at his level, they had for all intensive purposes shown him up.

Not that he would let this go without showing off to someone that he could do more than sit around and look good. Water moving in a small and thin stream at high speed as it severed one of the things head and let out a jet of black ichor from its neck. The body slumped to the ground with a sickening sound as Sean let the water zoom back to him and into its bottle.

”Well, that was erm…. messy.” Sean muttered eyes moving to the ground.

Sonny turned around swiftly when he heard the blades of a fan make contact with flesh. As swiftly as he turned, he held his sword up in a defensive stance. This was mostly to feign that he was ready for the attack all along, but was also partly because he was instinctively trying to protect himself. Sonny smirked at the comment that the girl had given him. "Well, I was hoping to get a few facial scars. Maybe they could make me a bit prettier." Not wanting to keep his back turned to the demons for long, Sonny averted his attention back to the majority of the group. The boy from earlier had seemingly pulled some water out of a bottle and had whipped a thin stream of water to behead one of the demons. "I still think mine was coolest. I flew in and just took the damn thing's head off!" This night was turning out to be enjoyable after all. It was a good thing Sonny didn't go to sleep before.

"You. Your scent is familiar." Sonny didn't know who the demon was talking to, but decided not to pay any attention to it. These supernatural things were tricky ones. Sonny held up his left arm and started to form a sphere of air in his hand. "Cool story, bro." With that, Sonny sent the ball of volatile wind outwards at the demon's face with a speed of 20 mph. The demon could tell that this wasn't something he wanted to take head on, and tried to turn back around to escape it. As soon as Sonny saw the demon move, he sped the sphere up to its top speed, catching it before it had the chance to escape. Sonny knew that it would be dangerous being this close to the sphere and created his barrier as soon as he let loose the sphere. He created a barrier just as soon as the sphere imploded, confident that it would protect him. The sphere then rapidly exploded before the demon made any distance from it, effectively tearing most of its body apart. Debris and gore kicked up from the explosion, getting caught in Sonny's wind barrier before going too far. He didn't want to get his clothes dirty just because some demon was attacking somebody.

Sonny turned his neck to face the girl. "My name ain't Lancelot. You can call me Sonny D." Oh yeah. He was such a badass. Growls erupted from the alley as they felt the pain of their fellow demon get most of his body torn apart. The small cuts they had experienced was drowned out by the pain of the demon that was just killed. Sonny faced the growling noises, smirking. "Who's next?"

The brutish sword wielding teenager obviously possessed some skill, like a headstrong young knight he was both valiant and dramatic... but all that was simply overwhelmed by his overbearing confidence and machismo. Tanuki stared at him blank faced, not knowing what to say or do about him, she did not know if she was amused or unimpressed with him..although he was good looking which is always a plus. At least he's helping I guess... she thought to herself, biting her lips as she returned his earlier answer by raising a perfectly sculpted eyebrow. Shaking her head a bit the Asian girl proceeded to return her attention to the gurgling mass of creatures. Although the trio had succeeded in removing a fair amount of demons the overall numbers seemed to have not dwindled at all...it was as if they continued to spawn. What made it even more worse was the fact that the woman from earlier was nowhere to be seen.

"I bet she's behind the dumpster.." she whispered to herself, squinting her eyes to see if there was any trace of a human victim. The girl quickly glanced at the writhing mass of screeching corpses, they were yabbering on about a familiar scent not that it worried her...she was sure they were simply referring to the teenage boy's natural 'musk'. Flicking her head to her right she gave the younger boy a grin...he had proven helpful, not only that but he looked shy performing his impressive trick with the water. "Do you think you could do that agin for me?", she asked, cocking her head to the side giving him a big smile, not that he'd see such a nice gesture but her eyes lit up so that should be enough for him, "I'm gonna check where that scream came from" she said, flexing her body forward as she twirled her fans in the air.

Before she planned on swinging over the demonic horde to see what lay behind them the creature's eyes collectively began to glow a more fierce red, "We shall consume your flesh and bloood...we are unstoppable", they all proceeded to let out a raspy growl before something truly terrifying began to happen. They began to crawl in unison, clawed bony limbs reached over one another in unison as they continued to glare at the young trio. A renewed sense of dread trickled down Tanuki's spine as she watched in mute horror at the creature's collective advance. "WE GROW STRONGER FOR EVERY COMRADE THAT HAS FALLEN!" they screeched, immediately pouncing upwards, covering the night sky with hissing corpses and never blinking eyes. They were going to attack from above, their sinewy limbs coming down at the nearest teenager.

"Uhh I think you should do that water trick now..", she swallowed stumbling backwards as she prepared her body for the incoming assault...

Sean raised an eyebrow at the older male, who seemed to need self confirmation that his attack was indeed cooler than his but that was just obvious. One of the things claimed to have known him, which was strange indeed. Was this guy associated with the demons that they were now so intently against? Sean prepared himself to deal with the rest, when Sonny managed to take out another with a powerful last of air that reduced it into a bloody pulp. That was of course an impressive feat to behold, his eyes widening at the display of raw power that outstripped what he was capable of.

The girl though seemed slightly impressed by Sean’s attack, which at least added a small air of confidence to him. He was already a bit down about how his powers were in comparison to the heroic figures he had seen in the new but it was possibly due to a lack of training. His fingers grasped the bottle tighter as the things seemed to proclaim that they would only grow stronger with each fallen comrade. His eyes narrowed confused, lip curling into a line. Before he could do anything one of the things seemed to rush forward, slashing out at him the weakest, barely missing as it hit his cheek. Before Sean could act it had retreated, with a long….tongue flocking about with a small bit of his blood at the tip.

He felt up to his cheek where the hot blood trickled down and felt the hot pain swim through his face. It hissed as it spat the blood on the ground. ”You are the spawn of that red haired witch.” It spat angered, its tongue flailing about angrily. Sean raised an eyebrow as the water around him moved with little warning and formed a sharp edge before slicing through its torso. Black ichor splashed across the concrete as the others seemed unphased as they simply launched themselves upon the three.

Sonny raised an eyebrow as the demons howled about how they get stronger with every one of their comrades falling. "Good for you, but what happens when all of you die?" Sonny raised his sword up in front of his face as his wind barrier dispersed. The bloody gore that was suspended in it dropped to the ground with a sickening sound. The smell then began to penetrate his nostrils, making him resist the urge to turn around and cover his nose. He wans't stupid enough to turn his back on any opponent, no matter how easily he cleaved their heads. "God, you guys stink." Sonny looked back momentarily to see a demon had gotten by him and seemed to attack the other boy. As soon as he was about to turn around to defend him, the boy had brought up a blade of water and cut straight through the demon. Sonny was impressed, yet he knew he couldn't show it. That would take down his badassery level.

Sonny levitated himself and flew backwards at a steady pace, keeping his eye on the demons. He felt like he was supposed to be the front line. Demons shouldn't be getting through to his newfound comrades. Even if they might now see him as he did them, he felt like he should protect them. "Hey, man. You alright?" What did that demon say? Something about being the spawn of some witch? Sonny shrugged it off. It seemed like these things would say just about anything to throw them off. First it was the nonsense of them recognizing Sonny's scent and then calling the other boy the spawn of a witch. What was next? This little Asian girl is a goddess? The thought brought a little chuckle to Sonny. She couldn't have been more than 100 pounds. No way she was a goddess.

The demons took off into the air, reaching an astonishing height as their trajectory seemed to bring them in the course of falling towards the group. Sonny's first reaction was to slice at the air, making 3 sets of razor winds fly up towards the large mass of demons. Their numbers proved too great, however, and even using his sword to make larger razor winds he hardly did much other than kill two or three. Sonny looked back to see the other boy still standing there with him, forming water out of his bottle. "That won't be enough!" As the demons reached their apex, they started to accelerate quickly. Sonny and the girl were the closest to the demons, and were their target. Sonny quickly put his sword in its sheath and attempted to grab the girl by the waist as she was preparing herself for the attack. His demeanor was now serious. "Don't be stupid." He kept a stern look on his face to show that he wasn't playing around. Sonny would then fly backwards to get him and the girl out of the range of the demons' jumps. Taking on a horde like that wouldn't be smart. They needed to keep picking them off one by one. If what they said was true about becoming stronger every time they lost one of their own, then they would be in for a hell of a fight.

Suddenly it seemed that Tanuki was the vulnerable female who needed saving and before she could sling a fan at the closest demon she was quite literally lifted off her feet by the sword wielding macho man. A sharp yelp escaped her lips as she felt his arms wrap around her petite waist, his grip was tight and as they soared backwards away from the demonic hordes she could not help but grudgingly accept the boy's assistance. Clinging to his shoulder her brow furrowed, not particularly happy with her current position, "Oh okay then, so I'm the stupid one now. Let me guess is this the time we kiss and I thank you for saving the meek and helpless little girl?", she said in a drop dead sarcastic voice, a perfectly sculpted eyebrow raised in a mixture of annoyance and amusement. No matter how good looking she thought he was his rashness and the overall cockiness had her scrunching her nose in annoyance.

She was eventually placed on her feet and with a dramatic curtsy she dryly muttered, "Thank you darling! What would have I done if you weren't there for me?", underneath the cowl on her lower face she pouted, smirking a bit as he reacted. Her little skit was only interrupted by the gurgled snarls of the creatures that were now scattered across the nearby area. Their bony spines hunched over, foul black liquid dripped out of their mouths as the dangerous looking claws slowly elongated off their mangled digits. The closest creature lunged at her and what would have been a fatal tackle to her upper body was easily halted with her ducking underneath it's body and using it's momentum to slam it against the brick wall behind her. Its groans of pain were quickly silenced with a swipe across the grey skull and no sooner had she slayed it did two more charge at her, rabid mouths open in anger and claws slashing the air...ready to dice her slender body up.

"Oh you guys are ugly", Tanuki uttered, wrinkling her nose as her body shifted to an offensive stance. The Tessen cocked open from her wrist, fanning outwards in a dazzling fashion as she spun on her heels, parrying the vicious attacks of one the demons whilst cutting the shoulder of another. Tanuki's movements were graceful yet quick, her footwork circled around the rapid creatures and what appeared to be a highly intricate dance had both creatures recoiling backwards. Flipping her body forward in a double hand spring she slashed at one of the demon's head whilst midair, a foul smell gushing upwards as the titanium fan cut through the decaying flesh and bone. Landing on the tips of her toes she proceeded to use the momentum of the other creatures strike to her chest, throwing him into a nearby streetlight..a deafening crack jolting across the air as its brains leaked out onto the metal pole.

Whipping her head towards the sword wielding teenager she winked, spinning her fans for show as she lightly patted his shoulder. You're not the only one with skills", the cheeky comment making her lightly giggle, this was going to be a very fun night.

Luckily the demons still didn’t see him as the greater threat but the other two, who were in all respects the greater threat indeed. This also gave him the perfect opportunity to strike while they still were distracted by the young hero and heroine, they wouldn’t even know what hit them. All he need was a greater supply of water, which would be hard to gather within an urban environment unless a sudden rain decided to hit them and he knew that was not likely to happen anytime soon. The sky did have some clouds, but they were not to the point rain would come from them in the amount he would need to kill of the strange demons that were assaulting them. Sean’s mind reaching out;aiming to gather any water that he could find, anything that could help him.

If there were any plants of any kind, he could pull water from them, as well as any water that could be found in the air. After what felt like a while, he felt the water react to his mental touch as it did as he commanded, converging upon him. Sure his reach was not exceptional; it was good enough to catch what he needed. It was a single tingling sensation that ran through his body and resonated within his core. That simple act of controlling the water that gave a feeling of completeness that nothing else could really. Blue eyes opened slowly as he noticed the water swirling around him in a decently sized mass, around eight gallons if he were right. This would have to do for now, even if it wasn’t enough to kill all of the demons attacking them.

With a single thought the water reacted, as a tendril with what seemed like a blade shape at the end lashed out. The weapon sliced into one of the many things neck, more of the black blood splashing out onto the ground. That was not the end of the battle in progress as what seemed like around three blades of water separated from the mass of water and began to slice into the things. More blood was sprayed across the street and came out in fountains that reeked of decay. The water attacks already sent out came back to join the small mass of water, still in the same location that it could easily protect the young man if need be.

Spoiler:

Sonny was a bit offended at the girl's reaction to him trying to help her. He wasn't trying to show off, for once, so she shouldn't have been acting that way in his opinion. The urge to retort was cast aside as he watched that girl go into her graceful dance of death. He was mystified at her style, but would never let that show on his face. Something strange other than the girl's awe inspiring talents. Some of the demons who had been incapacitated started to make weird motions. They started to stand awkwardly, back arched and arms stretched to the side. Holes formed in their chests and seemed to be giving birth to other demons. These demons seemed to appear a lot stronger than those that had spawned them. Sonny stared, dumbfounded. He felt a lot smarter now that these things had come out. "I wish you had taken my warning seriously!"

Sonny brandished Ragnarok, excited for a new enemy to face. Hopefully these would prove to be more of a challenge than the last. Now that he knew his allies could both defend themselves serious time was over. Jack had done his work and now it was time to play. As one of them finished spawning and left a lifeless corpse of the other demon on the ground, Sonny decided to test their limits. He swung Ragnarok in their direction, sending a razor wind crescent for its torso. The demon just stood there and took the hit straight on. Only a small cut had appeared. Sonny smirked, knowing that these things had to be about as durable as the brick wall he had practiced on the other day. "This is going to be fun."

Glancing to her left she expected more creatures to attack her but they all shuddered violently, frothing at the mouth as low gurgled rumbled from their decrepit necks. No sooner had she ran over to the younger boy with the water did the creatures play their trump card..apparently there was demon within demons...something that greatly disturbed the girl. The larger, more muscular creatures were considerably much more fearsome in appearance and instead of the black corpse-like bodies of their former selves their skintippled with a putrid orange and red energy. This power was made all the more evident when a slash of wind directed at one from the airhead barely caused it any damage, just a mere scratch.

"Ohyeah..fun", she nodded, sarcastically mimicking the sword wielding boy. Her attacking methods, although beautifully effective in most cases were obviously going to fall short against these brutes. One of the creatures nearest to her heaved forward, clasping onto one of the corpses with it's strong hands and instantly consuming it. The crunch of bones and the snapping of membrane was sickening to hear and the girl had to hold her breath from causing her to spill her guts out in disgust. The other monsters followed suite, devouring the corpses stridden across the alleyway and road, gorging themselves on the skeletal figures until there was nothing left but the horrid black ichor staining the ground.

Knowing that defensive measures would be the best option Yuuka instantly tossed several pellets around her. One second of silence was followed by the hissing of a pale grey smoke and the chattering of firecrackers, spewing bright flashes of colorful light across the surrounding area. The teenager did not stop to admire the spectacle but instantly grabbed the waterboy around the arm and dragged him around a nearby alleyway, crouching low against a heap of rubbish.

"Some waterworks would be helpful right now.."she mumbled, peaking around the corner of a bin as the smoke dissipated in the air. The demons gazed around vaguely, her ploy had worked..but for how long?
