First, I thank all those who volunteer their time as mods and admins. I'm glad to see that encouraged here through rewards. I think a prestige system is also great for a playership. However, I have concerns.
Please see my comments here for the origin of this thread:
https://marvelunlimited.forumotion.com/t1664-something-wicked-this-way-comes-prestigeBasically I have concern over the guidelines / judging criteria and certainly for consistency. It would appear based on the guide:
https://marvelunlimited.forumotion.com/t23-the-guide-to-fame-or-infamy-prestige that either there are new criteria and the guide needs updating or we need to unify our vision.
LENGTH
I will say Length seems to be arbitrarily awarded. It needs to be more formally marked and reviewed.
As an example, Daddy Issues was shorter than Something Wicked This Way Comes yet the former was awarded more.
https://marvelunlimited.forumotion.com/t1669-daddy-isues-prestige and
https://marvelunlimited.forumotion.com/t1664-something-wicked-this-way-comes-prestigeQUALITY OF STORY
This can be an opinion I suppose based on the reviewer but it still shouldn't be completely arbitrary. What are they judged by?
For example, I expected Something Wicked This Way Comes to fair better than Today's Forecast
https://marvelunlimited.forumotion.com/t1647-today-s-forecast-prestigeQUALITY OF WRITING
Again I think specific criteria need to be set. What are the expectations? They seem much higher and stricter than I expected, based on the guide, yet also a bit arbitrary.
Out of a possible 20, I thought 9 for my first thread of Today's Forecast was a bit conservative. Certainly ego is a factor there. But then 8 in Something Wicked? When the guideline of 7 is negative and "a small paragraph" for each post, I have to assume I should get more.
CONCLUSION
The basis is that I felt I deserved more, but even in comparison things aren't adding up or seeming fair/equal. If nothing else, some criteria have to be spelled out, which will hopefully help both sides in expectations and grading/judging/rewarding. I appreciate my concerns being looked to.
Thanks.
