The Daily Bugle

Senator Hines has revealed how mutants will be handled: Sentinels.

A rumor traveled the circles of the supernatural. Mutants heard a safe, underground railroad was being started, inquire at the Summit. The beyond sought the strange power said to rest at the Summit of New York City. The gossip flitted amongst the rest: valuable information was to come to light when dawn broke over the Summit.

What are Upgrades

If you are reading this you should be familiar with the unlimited system and all that it entails. Upgrades are one of the most vital aspects of developing your character. They are augments used greatly increase the proficiency and efficiency of all Abilities/skills. All tiers contain a specific number of upgrade slots that allow your character to modify there powers.

Can you stack/compound Upgrades?

Some upgrades are stackable while others are prerequisites to more advanced upgrades. However, you cannot purchase the same upgrade of the same level more than once.Upgrades that can only be purchased only by buying the previous level upgrade are color coded in Red. These upgrades replace one another and do not stack with their previous version.

{*}{*} - This means that the power is stacking, meaning you can stack the next level of the upgrade with previous Tiers. The stacking effects are multiplicative. As an example, a value of 100 with full strength upgrades would come out to about 820(apply the lowest first, then after you get that total, add the next highest percentage).

I've use an Upgrade slot but now I can afford a higher upgrade can I remove my lower level upgrade to free up that slot?

Yes, but it will cost you. It costs twice the amount of the upgrade slotted in order to remove it. Once an upgrade is removed, it is gone for good. There is no storing upgrades at all.

Range-A Ability/Skill’s range indicates how far from you it can reach. A Ability/Skill’s range is the maximum distance from you that the effect can occur, as well as the maximum distance at which you can designate the Ability/Skill’s point of origin. If any portion of the Ability/Skill’s area would extend beyond this range, that area is wasted. All normal Ability/Skills may not exceed 20 meters upon creation, AOE powers may not exceed 10 meters, and Unlimited powers may not exceed 40 meters. Keep in mind that there are certain cases in which staff can bend these rules to better fit the nature of an ability.

Upgrades Available/Cost:
Lvl 1 Range- Add 10 meters/10 Prestige
Lvl 2 Range- Add 20 meters/15 Prestige
Lvl 3 Range-Add 50 meters/45 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Lvl 4 Range-Add 75 meters/80 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Lvl 5 Range-Add 100 meters/120 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 3)
Lvl 6 Range-Add 200 meters/250 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 3)
Lvl 7 Range-Add 400 meters/500 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 4)
Lvl 8 Range-Add City Wide(including radius)/800 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 4. Only usable with Unlimited Ability)

Duration-A Ability/Skill’s Duration entry tells you how long the effects/damage of the Ability/Skill lasts. Duration's are always measured in posts. Any Ability or skill without a duration upgrade is considered instantaneous in nature unless they have an effect. Effects get a complimentary +1 to duration.

Upgrades Available/Cost:
Lvl 1 Duration- Add 1 post/10 Prestige
Lvl 2 Duration- Add 2 posts/30 Prestige

Lvl 3 Duration-Add 3 posts/90 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Lvl 4 Duration-Add 4 posts/270 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 3)
Lvl 5 Duration-Add 5 posts/500 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 4)

Resistance-Usually used specifically for durability type powers. This upgrade allows you to downgrade damage types and levels. If taking a durability power or claiming a resistance to an element that is a power you have you gain a 1 level reduction in damage automatically if it is a main power(If Durability is taken Abilities must be made for each damage type, for resistances to an element or power you control only one ability must be created).

Upgrades Available/Cost:
Lvl 1 Resistance- -1 damage level/30 Prestige
Lvl 2 Resistance- -2 damage level/70 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Lvl 3 Resistance- -3 damage level/180 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 3)
Lvl 4 Resistance-Aggravated to Trauma damage/240 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Lvl 5 Resistance-Trauma Damage to Bashing damage/380 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 4)
Lvl 6 Resistance-All damage to Bashing damage and All damage to light damage/500 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 4, Only usable with Unlimited ability)

Numerical Increase- This particular upgrade accounts for number of projectiles or items effected by a particular skill/ability that is not particularly an AOE but can target multiple specific individuals. All abilities/Skills that target multiple parties start at a base of 2 and must be upgraded past that point.

Lvl 1 Numerical Increase- +1 targets/30 Prestige
Lvl 2 Numerical Increase- +2 targets/60 Prestige
Lvl 3 Numerical Increase- up to 5 targets/100 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Lvl 4 Numerical Increase-up to 10 targets/120 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Lvl 5 Numerical Increase- up to 15 Targets/180 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 3)
Lvl 6 Numerical Increase- up to 30 Targets/200 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 4)
Lvl 7 Numerical Increase-up to 100 Targets/600 Prestige(Must have unlocked tier 4, only usable with unlimited ability.)

Add Effect/Status effects- Probably one of the most potent upgrades. The add an effect upgrade is to add negative or positive effects that correlate with the specific ability/Skill in which they apply. The ability to shoot ice beams would be the ability and freezing an opponent would be the effect. All effect upgrades get a +1 post base duration. You can gain multiple effects to one ability/Skill with this upgrade. At each level this is upgraded, one gains a new effect. So an ability with tier 1 of this upgraded, they have 1 special effect. but if they upgrade it 2 more times, each time adding a new effect, now they have 3 effects on a single ability.

Level 1 Additional Effect- 1 Additional Effect/25 Prestige.
Level 2 Additional Effect- 1 Additional Effect/50 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Level 3 Additional Effect- 1 Additional Effect/100 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 3)
Level 4 Additional Effect- 1 Additional Effect/200 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 4)
Level 5 Additional Effect- 1 Additional Effect/500 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 4, Unlimited powers only.)

Increase Damage-This upgrade focuses on increasing the damage of an ability in various ways. From just increasing the damage level of an ability to adding Lethal damage to your Bashing attack. At higher upgrade levels, it can even turn one type of damage into aggressive damage. For example a basic attack can do moderate Bashing damage, and then upgrade to adding light lethal damage in addition to it's moderate bashing damage. For the purposes of this ability, Primary damage type is the damage type the ability started with, and Secondary damage type is the damage type added later through this upgrade. There can only be 2 damage types at a time per ability, Primary and Secondary.

Level 1 Increase Damage- Adds a secondary damage type (either bashing or trauma) to the ability, which does light damage in addition to the base abilities previous damage/40 Prestige.
Level 2 Increase Damage- Increases the secondary damage type to moderate/125 prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Level 3 Increase Damage- Increases the Primary damage type to Heavy damage/250 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 3)
Level 4 Increase Damage- Increases The Primary damage type to Fatal, and the secondary damage type to Heavy damage, OR changes the secondary damage type to aggravated Damage/450 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 4)
Level 5 Increase Damage- Changes Primary damage type to aggravated Damage, But only if secondary damage type was not changed to aggravated, Also increases secondary damage to Fatal/650 Prestige.

{*}{*}Effect Per post-Not to be confused with DoT. Effect per post start off less potent than normal effects but over time can be far more effective. The runner who's speed increases the more he runs, the strongman who's strength builds over time. The increments are much smaller but have the potential to be great.

Level 1 Effect per Post- Adds 2% of ___ per post maxing at 20%/20 Prestige.
Level 2 Effect per Post- Adds 3% of ___ per post maxing at 24%/50 Prestige.
Level 3 Effect per Post- May add a new effect. such as a speed boost and a strength boost/125 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Level 4 Effect per Post- Boosts both effects to 6% per post, maxing at 36%/250 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 3)
Level 5 Effect per Post- Boosts both effects to 8% per post, maxing at 48%./400 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 4)
Level 6 Effect per Post- Gain a third effect, all 3 at 10% per post, maxing at 60%/550 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 4, unlimited powers only.)

Defense Increase- Increase the defensive power of an ability. For example, say you make an ice shield. This upgrade would make it tougher and harder to break through. It would take more power to smash it or damage it. Overall, your shield becomes sturdier and more effective if it's defensive power is increased. However it's not just abilities like ice shields, and physical armor. Durability powers can use this type of ability upgrade, many things could use a durability upgrade.

Level 1 Defense Increase- Resist 1 level of damage from bashing or lethal damage/15 Prestige.
Level 2 Defense Increase- Resist 1 level of damage from bashing or trauma damage/40 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Level 3 Defense Increase- Resist 1 level of damage from bashing or trauma damage/100 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Level 4 Defense Increase- Resist 1 level of damage from bashing or trauma damage or aggravated damage/200 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 3)
Level 5 Defense Increase- Resist 1 level of damage from bashing or trauma damage or aggravated damage/350 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 4)
Level 6 Defense Increase- Resist 1 level of damage from bashing or trauma damage or aggravated damage/500 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 4, must be an unlimited power.)

Damage over Time-Damage over Time, generally abbreviated as DoT or simply dot, refers to inflicting some damage on one's foe which will be applied at a regular interval for a limited duration. This can be caused by poisons, burns, curses etc. All DoT starts off at 2 posts and must be upgraded via duration to last longer.

Level one DoT- Does 50% of light damage in either bashing or lethal each turn/25 Prestige.
Level 2 DoT- Does 75% of light damage in either bashing or trauma each turn/50 Prestige.
Level 3 DoT- Does 50% of medium damage in either bashing or trauma each turn/ 90 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Level 4 DoT-Does 75% of medium damage in either bashing or trauma each turn/180 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Level 5 DoT- Does 50% of Heavy damage in either bashing or trauma or 50% of medium damage in aggravated damage each turn/300 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 3)
Level 6 DoT- Does 75% of Heavy damage in either bashing or trauma or 75% of medium damage in aggravated damage each turn/450 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 4)
Level 7 DoT- Does 50% of fatal damage in either bashing or trauma or 50% of heavy damage in aggravated damage each turn/600 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 4, must be an unlimited power.)

Piercing- Piercing is entirely different than a damage increase. For example,  let us consider an archer. Let's say he's hunting a super in a forest. No matter how strong he is, his arrows can't hope to normally go through a tree. However with an ability upgraded in piercing, he can have his arrows pierce through the tree, rather than just getting stuck. In essence, piercing is the ability of an item/power/ability to bypass defense.

Level 1 Piercing- Bypasses 1 bashing or lethal defense level/15 Prestige.
Level 2 Piercing- Bypass 1 bashing or trauma defense level/40 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Level 3 Piercing- Bypass 1 bashing or trauma defense level/100 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Level 4 Piercing- Bypass 1 bashing or trauma damage or aggravated damage  defense level/200 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 3)
Level 5 Piercing- Bypass 1 bashing or trauma damage or aggravated damage defense level/350 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 4)
Level 6 Piercing- Bypass 1 bashing or trauma damage or aggravated damage defense level/500 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 4, Must be an unlimited power.)

{*}{*}Strength Increase-This upgrade is applied to namely those with super strength or those with an an ability to lift or exert force upon an object such as Gravity,Telekinesis, or Magnetism. These upgrades are for those who want to improve strength and power to the above listed categories.

Level 1 Strength Increase- Adds 25% to base level strength/25 Prestige.
Level 2 Strength Increase- Adds 50% to base level strength/100 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Level 3 Strength Increase- Adds 75% to base level strength/300 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 3)
Level 4 Strength Increase- Adds 100% to base level strength/500 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 4)

{*}{*}Speed Increase- Increasing the speed of an ability can be very usefull. For example, if your base ability is super strength, you can upgrade the speed of a punch, or how fast that ball of electricity flies at someone. Things like that, while not outright damage or effect, can determine if something hits or misses.

Level 1 Speed Increase- Adds 25% to base level speed/25 Prestige.
Level 2 Speed Increase- Adds 50% to base level speed/100 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 2)
Level 3 Speed Increase- Adds 75% to base level speed/300 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 3)
Level 4 Speed Increase- Adds 100% to base level speed/500 Prestige.(Must have unlocked tier 4)

Binding-Binding is what is used to control creatures which are summoned. The users power is what summons the creature but binding is what holds it under your control. The stronger the creature, the higher level your binding must be in order to control it.
