Living Legacy [Training/Plot] WIP Empty
PostSubject: Living Legacy [Training/Plot] WIP   Living Legacy [Training/Plot] WIP EmptySat Nov 10, 2012 5:07 pm

That broken down house on the hill. Alone, surrounded by trees. Rotten stems of corn. It used to be a place Tara called home for quite some time. Well, when she was a child. Ever since her father's death, there was nothing holding her to the place. So she ran far away, lying to herself. Saying she was running TOWARDS something. A better future. One where she belonged, even without her family. Tara was extremely wrong. She was running further away from that future than she could have possibly imagined. The young blonde was finally back here. Her little house on the prairie where she was raised. It seemed like a life time ago since she had seen her home. When she left, she hadn't even turned back. Walking through the withered corn field, she'd make her way towards the broken down home towards the center of it all. As she finally pressed through the last film of withered corn, the young blonde would be standing infront of her old home. Beside it, about thirty meters off, were the two grave sites for her parents. Tara remembered this clearly. Well she was too young to remember her mom's burial, but her father's was burned into her skull. Literally. Ever since that day, Tara had a hatred for flames. It was ironic that two of her powers revolved around such flames. They never found her father's body, so they buried an empty coffin. The young blonde would walk up to the two gravestones. Both read "Here lies Johnathon Stong / Mary Strong." Tara walked up to the grave stones to see fresh flowers there. Apparently someone was tending to the graves after all this time. Tara placed a hand on her mother's grave, while looking back and forth at each of them. "Hey mom. Hey dad. Sorry I haven't been here in awhile. Things have been..Okay. I've been trying to make you two proud of me. Mom, I'm going to school like you wanted me too. Dad told me you always wanted a daughter that was a scholar. Dad, sorry to say I'm not following in your footsteps. I know you wanted me to get into science, but it's not my calling. I'm not that good with techno stuff, but I am learning all I can about genetics. The same studies you were so focused on." Tara gave a smile to her parents graves before looking back towards the house. "I should really clean this place up, huh?" The blonde dashed into the house as a golden blur. It had been some time since she took a step in her home, and of course it was a mess. Utilizing the powers her father had given her, the young speedster would begin to clean up the place in a blink of an eye. Chairs were put in their original positions. Dressers were fixed. The ground, walls, and ceiling were wiped clean of smudges and dirt. After several minutes, Tara would finally stop in the center of the room, dusting off her hands. "Well if that whole hero thing doesn't work out for me, I can totally see a future in home development." Tara would make her way to the couch of the living room, grabbing a book from the dresser beside it. Sitting down, she'd blow dust off the book and begin to flip through the pages. It was an album. The green eyed girl would trace her fingers across the pictures in the album. Most were taken before she was even born. These were probably the only pictures of her mother that she had ever seen. When she was a little girl, before her father drowned himself in research, he used to sit her down and show her the pictures of her mother. He always said she looked like him, and she saw that as a compliment. Through Tara's eyes, she believed her mom was the prettiest woman in the world. As Tara continued to flip through the album, a cassette tape would fall from the sleeve at the end. The young heroine's eyes would spark, as she'd grab the cassette. What was this? Her father never told her anything about it. After scavenging around the house, she'd find her old camera. Some how its battery was still charged. Placing the cassette into the camera, Tara would hoist it up and open the screen. Pressing play, she'd begin to watch what was on screen. Surprising..it was her mother.

"My little girl, I have all these things running through my head. Things that you're going to want to know. Things you're going to want and need to hear. When you're growing up, you're going to find there are people in this world: people who you're going to question and ask yourself, "Why is this person like this?". I've been in your same shoes, and I understand that this may push you towards being nihilistic towards the people around you. They act a certain way in the public eye, but you'll know how they really are. You'll know they would do anything to better themselves, than to help the people around them. Whatever you do, do NOT become like these people. You're special. I can feel it. Help those that need help. Save those that need to be saved. It's your moral obligation to help those you know you have the power to help. If you remember anything about me, remember these words. I love you."

The video ended with a buzz, and Tara stood there without any words. She didn't know if she should have cried. Been angry her father never showed her the video..Or just..laugh. Her face seemed to already have it planned out, as she smiled. If only her mother knew how she had grown. She was certainly her mother's daughter. Tara would close the camera and place it on the drawer. It was getting late. Instead of running home, she decided she'd stay the night in the house. Not like she had school on the weekend and with her super charged brain, studying was a cinch. The hopeful blonde would make her way towards the stairs to head back up to her old room. As she made it to the stairs, a strange ominous light would be shining from beneath. The staircase, though crazy how this sounds, seemed to be covering something. Tara would get down on all fours, pressing her cheek to the floor, trying to peek under the small opening where the light seemed to be coming from. To no avail would she be able to see anything. Lucky for her, she had the means of getting down there. Vibrating her molecules, the girl would literally walk through the stair case. Making it to the other side, she'd be standing on what appeared to steps leading below the ground level. Keeping a hand to a wall, Tara would slowly make her descent into this new world. Her head was pounding the deeper she went down. She didn't know if this was from fear or just anxiety. After what felt like several minutes of walking, Tara finally reached rock bottom. The bottom of the hidden stair case that led to a single door. Walking forward, the young blonde would press open the door, and on the other side would be a number of book cases, file cabinets, and a computer. Was this some sort of office? Most likely her dad's. Telling by the amount of dirt and dust, it was obvious the room hadn't been touched for ages. Tara walked towards the desk, shuffling through the papers on the table top. Taking a seat in her father's old work chair, she'd lean back and look towards the computer. The lights were working down in this area, so perhaps that meant it was getting fed an alternate power from another source than the broken down house. Tara clicked the power button on the computer, and watched the monitor flash before her. The moment it came on, it immediately booted into a password verification screen. "Oh great..A password. Think, Tara. What would be the password to super secret research my dad wanted to keep away from prying eyes?" The blonde began to use her super speed and super charged brain to type a number of different combination passwords to get a good idea on what it may be. She tried everything. Her birthday. Her mother's birthday. Her name. Her mother's name. Her father's birthday and name. Nothing was working. What could it have been? Leaning back in the chair, the woman's keen green eyes would look towards the papers on the table top. Various newspaper articles speaking of leading science in the world. The benefit of genetics. The famed mutant gene. Two scientists were leading this new age of science. A man by the name of..Johnathon Strong..Tara's father. And..another man. A man by the name of..Daniel Strong. Her father had a..brother? She had an..UNCLE? This was the first time she had heard of this! Tara practically fell out of her seat at this point. "Why hadn't my dad told me about this guy? I've always thought he was an only child." The young blonde spoke to herself as she gathered the folders and information on the desk. She was going to have to do some information gathering to learn more about the guy. With her goals clear, the speedster dashed out of the office with the files.

Tara hadn't been seen or heard from, for a few days, after finding the files. She stayed locked in her room, looking up information on her computer. Apparently this man..A "Dr. Daniel Strong" was still living up to the legend of his name. Scrolling down the information page, Tara learned he was working for a certain company. A science firm by the name of.."Bright Comings". The blonde began to scroll down on the website that showcased a famed article based solely on this.."Dr. Strong." As she began to read it, there would be a knock on her door. Tara would turn and look with a raised brow. "Who is it?" The door slowly opened and Mrs. Macreedy would be standing at the doorway. "Hey Tara, honey. Just wanted to let you know Gareth is getting out of the hospital at the end of the week. I was wondering if you'd want to be there with us when we bring him home." Tara gave a nod and a smile. "I'm glad Mr. Gareth is doing better. Yea, I'll be there when they let him out." The girl turned back to the computer and Mrs. Macreedy would give a smile and a nod. As she began to close the door, Tara would look back towards her again. "Oh and Mrs. Judy. Thank you." Mrs. Macreedy looked at the girl with curious eyes. "For what, honey?" The green eyed young woman smiled. "For showing me there really are good people out there. Caring people who are willing to lend a hand when someone's down." Tara turned back to the computer and the red headed woman gave a smile before closing the door. Green eyes searched the screen for the Newspaper article..and soon they found it.

"Doctor Daniel Strong has been a leading scientist here at Bright Comings, looking to give the world a brighter future with his findings on the genetic mutation: The X gene. The doctor believes that it is possible to harness this gene and its traits, passing it onto others and curing disease. The Doctor believes this is a new age for humanity if this gene is harnessed. We asked this scientist what he plans on doing once mastering the genetic structures, and basically playing with God's tools. Doctor Strong simply responded, telling our people that life will "Be amazed at the new beginning. A world where you weren't afraid of war, and losing love ones, because the research would give them a new breath of life. A new, perfect body, that would allow them to eliminate the threats of war. Become the soldiers of tomorrow, protecting our homeland efficiently and effectively. With my research, police officers, soldiers, firemen. All of them will be able to do their jobs to protect the people you care about the most. Firemen could become immune to heat to save those in the center of a burning threshold. Soldiers could have skin as hard as diamond as they fight for our freedom and the freedom of others! Cops could have the minds to see crimes before they are committed: thus having the power to stop the criminal before anyone is hurt. The possibilities are unlimited, and it all comes from simple DNA. From genetics that me, and my companions, are willing to fight to understand."

"Sounds like my uncle plans on weaponizing my father's research. I've seen the full extent of my own powers..They're dangerous. If this power falls into the wrong hands, there could be a catastrophe. I should go have a word with him...and maybe he can tell me more about my parents." Tara kicked her feet on the ground and rolled out of her chair. Landing on her feet, she'd grab her back bag and head out the door. "I just hope he's willing to see me. Just incase, I should try to meet him under guise. Shouldn't be too hard to form a lie by the time I get there...Right, Tara?" The girl reassured herself as she dashed out the front door of her home as a golden blur, heading towards the main office of the Bright Comings facility.

The woman working the front desk thought nothing of the gust of wind that blew her papers. The security guard watching the cameras thought nothing of the blur that dashed across multiple screens. This lack of awareness was poor for Bright Comings but a blessing for Tara. As she ran through the building, through her perspective everything seemed to be at a stand still. She simply jogged past people, side stepping and spinning along. The world of the speedsters was like time had come to a halt. That's how it was, explained perfectly. When they were on the move everything seemed so slow to them. This gave Tara ample time to run through the building and read the various names on various doors before finding the one specific name she was looking for: Daniel Strong. Making sure to stay a few steps ahead of the cameras, Tara would enter the office by vibrating her molecules through the door and appearing on the other side. The camera in this room seemed to be rotating back and forth. Before it could rotate back to her position she would dash over to the wall, grab a spare coat, and place it on. A poor disguise, but she sorta looked like a scientist, or atleast an intern. Keeping her bag over her shoulder, the girl would enter the laboratory with a slightly nervous stride. To her left and right were various containers holding not only animals, but various test tubes hosting strange liquids within. The laboratory was filled with scientist analyzing data, and crunching numbers. However, they all answered to one man. A Mr. Daniel Strong; Tara's own Uncle.

This was the first time the young blonde met him in person. How she knew who he was was simple. Other than the name tag that was firmly placed upon his right pectoral that confidently and bluntly stated "Lead Scientist: Dr. Daniel Strong", but the fact the room seemed to radiate around him also played testament to this aswell.
